BIG 29er Overview
Adult bicycles usually have a 26" wheel, which is fine for most people. But for those of us who are heavy and are taller than 6'2" or so, getting a bike that is built to fit in both height and weight has been a real challenge. This is why we are so happy to introduce our very first 29er! A 29er is a bike built with 29" wheels. The rider immediately gains a couple of inches with the bigger wheels, and the frame itself is built proportionately bigger. This is an excellent way for tall people to be able to ride comfortably.Like traditional bikes, however, most manufacturers fall short in the weight that these bikes are built to hold. They stick to the 200 +/- rule. Amazing, when you realize that most very tall people weigh more than 200 pounds--even ones that are not, by a stretch of anyone's imagination, overweight. This is where Super Sized Cycles comes in. We have found a solid 29er, the Sun Big Cruz 29er, which has a lot of the components we look for in a bike. We then "zized" it up and are happy to offer you a 29er that can hold 375 pounds! What changed? We added a stronger crank and pedals, upgraded from a single speed to an 8 speed hub. We replaced the aluminum seat post with a chro-molly one, and put on a more stable seat collar as well. We changed the handlebars to a broader, more upright set made of chro-molly that puts the rider in a fun, easy-to-maintain position. All in all, we've put over 0 of upgraded parts and labor into making this 29er one you will not only enjoy riding, but will also be safe and comfortable. Vive la difference!
